The Nintendo Wii is just as popular now as it was when it first came out onto the gaming market. In fact, it is even more popular these days. This is largely due to the fact that it keeps coming out with extremely innovative games and accessories. Many people say without hesitation that the Wii is the best console to ever be available, not to mention the best thing to come from Nintendo in a very long time. The only problem is… it can be potentially dangerous. That Wii remote, especially, can be a lethal weapon. So, make sure you learn to play your Wii as safely as possible!

As many of you may already know, before you break out the Wii game and start playing, you want to make sure that you have plenty of room to play. Roughly five feet is normal as you will need a lot of space to move around. Keeping your gaming area clutter-free and clean is definitely one of the things you should be doing, especially if you use the Wii a lot.

Your Wii will have some tips teaching you how to play and especially how to use the controllers. Pay attention! If you do not, you might find that the first time you bowl or play tennis, you send your Wii remote flying right into your TV set.

One of the biggest things that you need to remember to do is use your Wii controller’s strap, as this strap is going to help you and ensure that you do not put any holes in your walls, friends or even your animals! Now, if you did buy your Wii before 2006, December, you may want to get some new straps as your straps could snap very easily.

Make sure that you use your wrist when playing, not your whole arm. Do not use the full force of your shoulders either. Both your Wii remote and the Wii itself can recognize light, careful movements.

Playing games is supposed to be a fun activity. Do not let yourself get angry at the game. If you start to do so, you need to walk away immediately. Breathe deep, talk to your friends and family, and let yourself calm down. You will be able to beat the Princesses in Mario Kart when you get back, don’t worry!

In addition to being truly innovative, a lot of the games available on the Wii promote an active lifestyle filled with exercise. Just look at the Wii Fit, after all! However, all the Wii exercise in the world does not beat real exercise and activity. Even if you are not getting angry at the game, you need to remember to take some time off every once in a while.

Last but definitely not least, every time you sit down to play, you need to keep an eye on your play area again. Make sure that nothing about it has changed. Pause the game every so often to do the game. Just in case you do get a little enthusiastic while playing, you want to make sure no one is around to get hurt.
